Burlap - The burlap sandbags are made up of thick woven fabric. These fabrics are taken from the stem of a plant named jute plant which is belong to the fiber type. Therefore, the skin of this plant is very fibrous. As a result of this special feature in this material, the durability of the burlap sandbags are higher than the other type of sandbags. Moreover, the resistance for water is also in its higher level. Especially these sandbags can be utilized for water problems.


Woven Polypropylene - Polypropylene threads or tapes are used create these woven polypropylene sandbags. These threads or tapes are woven in two directions.  This is a kind of plastic material. The special feature of these sandbags are even they are open to the sunlight they can have a long life term while protecting from UV rays. Not only high temperature these bags are strong in any environmental condition.




What material should we use to fill the Sandbags



The filling process of sandbags should be done with the proper guidance. Unless it may not work in the proper manner. Sandbags should be filled up to 1/2 to 2/3 full. Overfilled sandbags allow water to flow through the bags. Therefore, Polypropylene sandbags should be filled according to the proper instructions.

In order to fill the sandbags you can use any dense material. Most people use sand or soil which is the most appropriate Filling material for sandbags. Likewise there are several other options to fill sandbags. Wood pellets, gravel are alternatives for filling sandbags and some are using rubber mulch also.

How do you dispose Sandbags after using them


Most of the sandbags can be reuse. Both burlap and woven polypropylene sandbags last for nearly 8 months. But due to the effect of different environmental conditions this can be vary. Therefore, after the usage of sandbags it everyone’s responsibility to dispose them in the proper manner without harming to the environmental balance. Do not put these sandbags in the garages or do not throw them into the streets after using. The perfect way to dispose sandbags is taking them to local landfill and you can dispose them by contacting local sanitation companies.

  2. Sandbags have saved countless dollars and lives over the years with flood control and military shelter protection. I am amazed at the material construction and how strong/lightweight the bags can be. There is a fabric for every application. There are even static protective fabric bags for flammable dry chemical transportation. Human ingenuity is impressive!
